I enjoy watching KDs, but I can’t understand some of their societal norms that seem to be outdated and even discriminatory compared to other cultures – orphans, older woman & younger man relationship, and single mother or father with a child are frowned upon and are unacceptable as daughters- or sons-in-law (Something in The Rain, One Spring Night, this drama where the lead actress is an orphan and a single mother). Are these portrayals an exaggeration or is this really how it is in Korea? I wonder?
