Synopsis: A police officer named Ono Juzo discovers the body of a wanted thief, Sukejiro, who has been killed by his pregnant wife, Ofuji. Feeling sympathy for the wife, Juzo hides the body and protects her. Meanwhile, another member of Sukejiro’s gang, Kobusa no Kumehachi, is caught by the Arson and Theft Control Division. This gang is led by Nozuchi no Yahei, the same gang that Sukejiro had joined. However, things take a dangerous turn when another gang member, Ogawaya Umekichi, claims to have kidnapped Ofuji and demands that Juzo release Kumehachi in exchange for her safety.
